– Description:

Located on one of the most vibrant streets in Amman, Queen Rania Street gave this complex building the ability to have a mixed-use program diverting from retail shops to offices. With the retail shops located on the ground level, the offices were located in the five floors above and service parking in two basement levels are provided. The main challenge of this design was how to maintain the retail shops on the ground level and still have an interesting and welcoming entrance for the offices above. This issue was treated by having a main side entrance with a negative space to emphasize the entrance and give it a buffer zone in front of it. The finishing materials of the facades were a combination of two local stones in addition to the minimal use of glass in the random west facade openings.
